Drinking and driving has long been considered a problem among men in the United States. However, a noted increase in the occurrences of women arrested on DUI charges has given researchers a reason to delve further into the problem. Time Magazine reports that the Transportation Research Board’s annual conference in Washington, D.C., focused on the growing problem of women and drinking and driving, as well as binge drinking. With female DUI statistics growing almost 30% from 1998 to 2007, examining the reasons for these behaviors is important in addressing the problems.
