South Carolina has increased the penalties and consequences for those that choose to drive while under the influence of alcohol. WSPA.com reports that on February 27, 2013, the South Carolina senate approved a bill that will require mandatory installation of ignition interlock devices in the vehicle(s) of first-time DUI offenders with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .12 or more. These devices will utilize the latest technology, including a video camera to verify the driver’s identity before allowing the vehicle to start.
