After passing through the Mississippi House of Representatives, an amendment that would require mandatory ignition interlock device installation for convicted DUI offenders is heading to the Senate. According to abc24.com, the Mississippi house passed the bill that would target repeat DUI offenders as well as first-time offenders. Since the CDC reports that ignition interlock devices reduce the rate of repeat DUI offenses by 67 percent, this amendment would potentially reduce DUI rates throughout Mississippi.
