Each state in the U.S. has its own laws and regulations when it comes to alcohol-related driving offenses, helping to control the behaviors of first-time and habitual drunk driving offenders after an arrest or conviction. According to The Dagger, the state of Maryland may be going in a different direction than other states after a person is charged with driving while under the influence. Senator J.B. Jennings is backing new legislation that would require a person convicted of DUI or one who is granted probation before judgment (PBJ) a drunk driving offense to attend a Shock Trauma program at the University of Maryland Medical System.
