Leprechauns are seen everywhere around St. Patrick’s Day, in plenty of situations that remind us all to let loose and have a little more fun, especially after a hard winter season. Even when having fun, leprechauns are cautious and avoid dangerous situations as much as possible. Could it be that those little imps, while crafty and shrewd, have lessons for us all when it comes to staying sober behind the wheel?
If you think about the leprechauns you’ve seen:
- You’ve never seen a leprechaun in jail for any reason.
- Leprechauns are notoriously greedy; always hiding that pot of gold. They’re not going to risk it for a DUI court fine.
- These little guys and gals love to have fun, and there is nothing fun about a DUI conviction.
You’ll never see a leprechaun attempting to drink and drive, because there’s just no point. Not only could you land in jail, but you could be required to install and maintain an ignition interlock device in order to resume driving again. Imagine how that will change your luck when it comes to the rest of the spring and summer “fun” seasons. Leprechauns know that the choice to drink and drive is the choice to lose their freedom, and there’s not a leprechaun in the world that would be okay with that.
On St. Patrick’s Day, plenty of us love to head out with friends for a few green beers and to celebrate the day the “Irish way.” Fun times with friends are fine, and even if there is alcohol, you can have a fantastic St. Patrick’s holiday… as long as you don’t drink and drive. Take it from the leprechauns – if you will be drinking, find a safe ride home. There’s no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow when you’ve got a DUI, just more trouble than it is worth.
