The use of ignition interlock devices for those convicted of a DUI offense continues to create safe roads across the country. With groups like MADD helping to introduce laws that require the installation after a conviction, the statistics regarding the reduction of DUI/DWI accidents and injuries show the effectiveness of the IID. Washington Post reports that these statistics show that in the states where ignition interlock devices are used as a consequence of driving while intoxicated, the reduction in fatalities is clear.
