M.A.D.D. is a big supporter of ignition interlock legislation, understanding that once a person is convicted of driving under the influence, he or she should not get the chance to endanger lives again. According to New Haven Register, M.A.D.D. will be fighting for stricter ignition interlock laws in Connecticut in 2014, citing the current laws in the state allow for a DUI offender to have his or her record expunged after completing a substance abuse treatment program. While these programs are effective, the mandatory installation of an ignition interlock for first-time offenders may offer more solutions for safety.
