Driving while under the influence is a serious and deadly activity that can have legal and financial repercussions, as well. While the statistics seem to indicate that there are less drunk drivers on the road, the problem is pervasive, and in Utah, a new law may make it more difficult for bar patrons to drive home after having “one for the road.” According to examiner.com, proposed legislation would allow bars to place breathalyzer machines inside their establishments, and would encourage the bars to test customers before leaving to determine their blood alcohol content (BAC). This measure could help eliminate the liability a bar has if a patron leaves drunk, drives and causes an accident.
