While there are plenty of reasons for states to include strict penalties for convicted drunk drivers, some lawmakers may not support all of the specifics, especially when it comes to the mandatory installation of an ignition interlock device. In a recent statement on the Beatrice Daily Sun website, Senator Russ Karpisek discusses his plan to fight against the IID penalty in Nebraska, citing that the current ignition interlock requirement in the state could potentially cause a stricter sentence than the original DUI charge.
