A person’s 21st birthday is a big milestone for anyone who has been looking forward to the full privileges of adulthood. However, the responsibility that comes along with the ability to legally consume alcohol can be too much to handle, which is why it is vital to remain in control of the amount of alcohol a person drinks.
In 2010, it was noted that the highest number of fatal crashes due to drunk drivers was attributed to drivers ages 21 to 24. This group is at risk for many reasons, including peer pressure and inexperience with knowing limitations concerning drinking. By educating our communities and providing resources for designated drivers, these individuals may not pose as high of a risk to others on the road, ending their own freedom by choosing to drive drunk.
