As more states implement ignition interlock laws for those convicted of drunk driving offenses, the data continues to prove the effectiveness of these devices, and are saving lives in the meantime. KAALtv.com reports that the Minnesota ignition interlock program that began in July 2011 is showing a dramatic decrease in subsequent DWI offenses. With the devices required for both first-time offenders with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .16% and above, as well as for repeat DWI offenders, the rate of subsequent offences is less than one percent.
