Drinking and driving is a problem across the country, and with the recent recommendation by the NTSB to lower the legal BAC limit to .05%, many states are being faced with a tough decision. The Independent Record reports that many officials in Montana are not convinced that lowering the BAC limit will reduce the rates of drunk driving accidents in the state. With concerns over the effects of a lower limit on “law abiding citizens” and considerations for how to better enforce current laws, Montana is facing many of the same challenges as other states when trying to balance safety over personal freedom.
